Our favorite gluten free scones
Tuesday morning dawned sunny and bright, a welcome contrast to the damp wintery weather we’ve had for the last week. Back in Mill Valley, we’ve welcomed the “back to civilization” vibe of the Bay Area, despite feeling like we could have stayed at the Ridge.
After Alison packed up for her red eye back to New York, we took a drive to Flour Craft Bakery, the best gluten free bakery in Marin County. Trying the raspberry almond scone felt just as decadent as eating a regular scone: not too moist, a bit crumbly, and studded with sugar crystals. We lounged in the Adirondack chairs and pondered the beauty of the valley’s weather and how healthy west coast energy can be.
Afterwards, we hiked Vanessa’s favorite Mount Tam trail, Railroad Grade. The post-rain hike had Isla and Harley frolicking in the puddles and chasing each other down the path, excitedly greeting other pups, owners and cyclists as they passed. As timeless as the beauty of the beach and ocean is, there’s nothing quite like the restorative beauty of forest bathing. We’re ready to hunker down for the winter and to see what the next season brings!
